Casa Alianza Mexico has a 35-year legacy of supporting children and teenagers between the ages of 12 and 18 who have experienced social abandonment. These resilient individuals have encountered issues like human trafficking, abandonment, sexual exploitation, and addiction. The organization’s mission is to actively contribute to the protection and well-being of these young people, facilitating their integration into society in a functional and self-sufficient manner.
Cultural Care Kids First Foundation was asked to fund the construction of an urban garden at Casa Alianza in Mexico City from start to finish, a project that captured the enthusiasm of its teenagers. They eagerly anticipated its completion, as it now provides them with a dedicated space where they can not only participate in cultivating and caring for the garden but also use it as a quiet space to connect with nature and themselves—a sanctuary that truly belongs to them.
During Cultural Care Au Pair’s National Meeting in Orlando, Florida, held for its Local Childcare Consultants, we fundraised and successfully met our goal of $8,000 to support the construction of the urban garden. Cultural Care Au Pair has matched the $8,000, contributing a total of $16,000 to this initiative. The urban garden is expected to have a long-term impact on the teens.
The garden now has an abundant harvest the teens continue to nurture, with various fruits and vegetables like tomatoes, broccoli, and arugula. Listen to Laura Teuffer from Casa Alianza share more about the project on our YouTube channel: Cultural Care Kids First & Casa Alianza
